“Raw, rugged and simple. This video explains how all the natural aspects of the Himalayas contributed to the making of a purpose-built, go-anywhere motorcycle. Presenting, the all new Royal Enfield Himalayan.”
Director Andrew David Watson recently returned from India a handful of weeks ago bearing tales of winding, rock strewn roads and vistas that take the breath straight away. His journey had been the product of instinctive passion married to the kind of fortunate happenstance with which such afición often finds itself in bed.
Or, As Mr. Watson puts it:
“The new Himalayan has been in development for over 2 years and it’s the first dedicated all terrain motorcycle from Royal Enfield. Knowing my documentary background, my passion for motorcycles and my experience riding a R.E. in the Himalayan, W+K New Delhi hit me up to tell this story. My crew and I headed to Tamil Nadu, India for a week of production. Filming took place at the Royal Enfield Factories and riding locations within a 3 hr radius of Chennai.”
In addition to the original footage they shot, Andrew was handed a substantive archive of road and testing footage and additional interview content from the UK. Pulling even more source of riding footage from personal motorcycle trip he took through the Himalayans in 2012, ADW boiled down 40+ hours of material into a 7 minute film, telling the story of the Himalayan from concept to final field testing.
Culling multiple deliverables from his documentary footage, R.E. and W+K New Delhi will be rolling out multiple beautiful pieces about their new bike. They wanted to share this story with the motorcycling world.
The Himalayan Story, does just that.
