We are thrilled to announce that Winnie Cheung & Elena Vazintaris’s film In the Habit of Hiding has won a Silver Award at the Ciclope Festival in the Special Selection – Weird Shxt category!
The 2019 iteration of the Berlin festival took place at the Delphi Theater over November 7th and 8th, culminating in an awards ceremony for jury-reviewed and selected submissions to the festival. This year’s jury was comprised of a globally renowned group of industry players, including but not limited to: Co-founder & CEO of The Mill – Robin Shenfield, Publicis CCO – Cristiana Boccassini, and Cheil Worldwide CCO & Executive Creative Director – Kate Hyewon Oh.
Winnie & Elena, on the impetus to create their award-winning short:
“[IN THE HABIT OF HIDING sits] at the cross section of movement, fashion and experimental film that focus on the female body for political and social critique, chasing the idea perfection often stifles our ability to react instinctively. We make excuses and manipulate ourselves into believing that we’re not capable. We want this dance film to show how torturous it can feel to obsessively pursue the unbelievably high standards that we often set for ourselves.”
In the Habit of Hiding will be available to the public, coming soon.
